Liptov ski resorts
Liptov is bordered by High Tatra (Vysoké Tatry) mountain in North and Low Tatra (Nízke Tatry) mountain in South. Both mountain chains are over 2000 meters high and ski season lasts from December untill late April every year. The most important ski resorts are Jasna (known as Demänovská Dolina or Chopok) and Ruomberok (Ski park or Malino Brdo). Newest addition to Liptov attractions is the all-seasons water park Tatralandia. Located just 2 km from Liptovsky Mikulas and 5 km to entry to Demänovska valley ski resort it is the ideal place for all day relax during summer or evening event after skiing. Two beautiful caves are well located in Demänovska valley, one of them called Ice Cave, which seems to be a palace of an ice queen. Another is just few hundred meters far and both are well accessible for travelers. Even discovered by locals some decades ago, they have been long time inhabited by cave bears in prehistorical times and till today several unique bat species have their habitat here. Vlkolinec
The former village of Vlkolinec is today officialy part of the city of Ruzomberok. Whole village consist of more then 40 preserved wooden houses without any interference of modern architecture.
